Expressive Arts

.

When art and psychotherapy are joined, the scope and depth of each can be expanded, and when working together, they are tied to the continuities of humanity’s history of healing.

—Shaun McNiff, The Arts and Psychotherapy.

Expressive arts therapy uses various arts—movement, drawing, painting, sculpting, music, writing, sound, and improvisation—in a supportive setting to facilitate growth and healing.

Expressive art involves a discovery process in which we are able to connect to ourselves through a non-verbal modality that taps into a greater emotional depth. It is not meant to “create art” in the perfectionistic sense, but rather as a way of learning and cultivating different ways of expressing our emotions through a more intuitive manner.

The group will allow you to challenge your beliefs and biases in an experiential manner, creating a more emotional, and present-lived experience to help you appreciate your strengths, and find a way of connecting to your inner and more authentic self.
